Cyber security refers to protecting or defending computers, servers, mobile devices, electronic systems, networks, programs, and data from malicious attacks. It is also known as information technology security.
With the increased use of computers, networks and end point devices such as mobile phones and the abundant avenues for collecting data, the number and variety of threats over the internet has increased exponentially. Cyber attacks usually aimed at accessing, changing, or destroying sensitive information; extorting money from users; or interrupting normal business processes.
Common threats come in various forms, names, severity and source points. Virus, worm, malware, trojans, ransomware are just few of these threats. Cyber security are the controls that help secure the systems to counter the risks posed by these threats. Some commonly used security controls include updating system operating system, with latest patches, using anti-virus software, strong passwords, not clicking on unknown emails and avoiding unsecure networks and internet.
